New Porsche 911 (991): On-Track Test

In case you'd forgotten, or were just bored by it, there's a new Porsche 911 on sale – the 991. Here, at the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone, tester Gordon Robertson explains some of the new cutting edge technology developed for the car while also exploring how it remains true to its iconic 911 roots. Of course, it's still flat-six boxer, rear-engine, 2+2 and shaped the same, but what you might not know is that the Carrera S model recently lapped the Nordschleife in 7:40 dead... and that's current 997 GT3 pace. The new car also feature a new sports exhaust package (sounds good), new electro-magnetic steering for sharper turn-in, is lighter, more economical (32mpg) and offers 400bhp in S form, capable of 4.1s to 60mph.
