Porsches? At Le Mans? Surely not!

Porsche Cars PR have shockingly revealed there will be Porsches racing at this years Le Mans! The PR team says: "Last year’s GT2 class winning team - Marc Lieb, Richard Leitz, Wolf Henzler – return to defend their crown behind the wheel of the 2011-spec Felbermayr-Proton team 911 GT3 RSR, the ultimate racing Porsche 911. Porsche is the most successful marque in the 79 year history of the Le Mans 24 Hours race. Porsche customer teams from Europe and the USA are particularly well represented at the 79th running of the long distance Le Mans 24 Hours motor race this weekend. At the toughest automobile race in the world, the teams will enter a total of eight Porsche 911 GT3 RSR race cars in the two sports car classes: GTE Pro and GTE Am. All Porsche works drivers compete – including last year’s winning trio, Marc Lieb (Germany), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Wolf Henzler (Germany). With 16 overall and 98 class victories, Porsche is by far the most successful marque in Le Mans history." Nothing like stating the obvious eh? To be fair, there will be five teams, eight vehicles and 24 drivers involved in the 79th Le Mans 4-hour... almost as many as there will be at the Nurburgring 24-Hour later this year.
