Frugal Future?
With the ever spiralling cost of fuel a frightening reality, is this new concept car from VW the future of motoring? It's the VW XL1 Super Efficient vehicle, a concept car unveiled at the recent Qatar Motor Show. It's capable of a huge 313mpg, thanks to its lightweight (795Kg) monocoque construction and frugal hybrid diesel (800cc two-cylinder, 48PS) and 27PS electric motor. On the dull side, it'll only do 99mph and 0-60mph in 11.9s. But, on the plus side, it is crazy stylish, featuring covered rear wheels (helping it obtain a bonkers 0.186 drag co-efficient), sleek lines and scissor doors. Oh, and it's rear wheel drive, so maybe it will drift! Likey?
