Classic "Mak-Attack" in Lancer Evolution
We've just doing a bit of research for a piece on the legendary Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally cars, and came across this excellent bit of in-car footage from a personal hero of 1000's of rally fans – Tommi Makinen, driving on a classic "Mak Attack" in 1997, in a Ralliart Lancer Evo IV in the WRC – manual dog box and all. God, am I the only one to miss those late 90s battles between Makinen, Sainz, McRae, Burns and when he was on fire, Auriol? The greatest post Group B era of rallying? Before the Active Centre Diff and tyre and gearbox technology took over, and when you could still walk down a special stage to watch the boys fly past at full chat. Sit back and enjoy the most successful WRC driver before Sebastian Loeb doing his thing. Phenomenal driver. Legendary car. You may still dominate Group N, but we miss you in WRC Mitsubishi... come back!!! Go Tommi!
