Toyota Land Cruiser hits 60

Many happy returns to the Toyota Land Cruiser, which, believe it or not, is celebrating its 60th birthday in 2011. Its ancestry can be tracked back to the 1951 Toyota BJ, which scaled 2,500m up Mount Fuji after its launch – proving Toyota's off-road credentials from day one. There have been many versions of the Land Cruiser in 60 years, and 2011 sees the launch of two new ones: A £49,950 3.0 D-4D and a £61,950 V8 model, all trimmed up to within an inch of their life. There will also be a newly available three-door version available later this year, for £30,395 OTR. Toyota... Road salutes you!

  1. Letting your vehicle idle not only pollutes the environment but adds up to a few more coins at the pump. Turn off your engine if you know that you will be waiting for a few minutes.
