NEWS: New Oulton Park Opener For Wales Rally GB

Great news from the team at Wales Rally GB – the fantastic, historic and epic Oulton Park (over the border in England!) will play host to a cool curtain raiser for the epic Welsh rally WRC round on Thursday evening, 3rd October, before the crest heads off into the forests to spit gravel at bobble hatted, happy fans.

There will be a "feast of special displays and attractions as World Championship roars into life" according to the organisers, including a homecoming for the high octane Dayinsure Donut and Dayinsure Family Zone.

Sounds like a really cool idea.

In a press release, the organisers said...

Wales Rally GB is delighted to announce that its successful relationship with Dayinsure is to be renewed when the FIA World Rally Championship returns to these shores in the autumn between Thursday 3rd and Sunday 6th October.

Having been title partner to the prestigious motor sport event for the past three years – as well as the driving force behind the dramatic #Skydriver viral video which witnessed a rally car taking to the skies in Snowdonia – Dayinsure is continuing its support of Wales Rally GB in 2019.

The UK’s pace-setting short-term car insurance provider returns as an event partner – a new role which includes title sponsorship of the high profile Oulton Park curtain-raiser on Thursday.

Coming immediately after the Ceremonial Start on the waterfront in Liverpool, the newly renamed Dayinsure Oulton Park Stage is gearing up to be a major highlight on the English side of the border before the WRC heads off to Welsh forests.

As the rally’s opening speed test on Thursday evening, spectators will savour some spectacular action with the WRC stars and cars striving for an early advantage under the lights on a specially constructed course incorporating sections of the famous race circuit plus the venue’s own rally track. The stage will also witness the welcome return of the Dayinsure Donut around which competitors will perform dramatic 360-degree spin-turns.

Moreover, with gates opening at 3pm, visitors of all ages will also be treated to some great afternoon entertainment in the build-up to the WRC’s arrival.

As previously at Cholmondeley Castle and on the promenade in Llandudno, Dayinsure will be hosting a special Family Zone providing a host of interactive attractions for both the young and the not so young.

Other festival attractions at Oulton Park will include stunt drivers, autograph sessions with past and present rally legends, big screens, pyrotechnics, commentary as well as an eye-catching display of historic rally cars to mark the event’s 75th running. The Autocar 75th Rally GB showcase will feature cars as rallied in period by all the greats including multiple home winners Roger Clark, Richard Burns and Colin McRae.

“Oulton Park is shaping up to be a really exceptional opening to the 2019 Wales Rally GB – even more so now, of course, with Dayinsure’s very welcome return,” enthused Hugh Chambers, Chief Executive of Motorsport UK, organiser of Wales Rally GB. “With such great entertainment for all ages and interests on top of the extraordinary WRC action, we are expecting a large crowd as Oulton Park has great facilities and is within easy striking distance from cities such as Liverpool, Manchester and even Birmingham.”

Based locally in Tarporley, Dayinsure is equally excited to be renewing its relationship with premier league World Championship rallying.

“After three years as title partner of Wales Rally GB, rallying is very much in Dayinsure’s DNA,” said Barry Bown, Dayinsure Chief Operating Officer. “The creation of this exciting new Dayinsure Oulton Park Special Stage not only provides us with a great opportunity to continue our productive association with the WRC but will also help us to further reinforce the many benefits offered by the online availability of increasingly popular short-term vehicle insurance – and Dayinsure as the go-to brand in that marketplace.”

All tickets for Oulton Park must be purchased in advance with adult admission priced at just £25. A grandstand upgrade option is on offer for an additional £25 with hospitality also available for those seeking the ultimate experience.

A wide section of tickets for the remaining 21 special stages that follow in Wales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are also on sale and these are currently available with significant discounts for early birds booking before midnight on 12 August.
