NEWS: Wales Rally GB 2014 Tickets On Sale
Wales Rally GB 2014 tickets go on sale today – so form a bobble-hatted orderly cue for the UK's only WRC event, and the 2014 season finale, which will include WRC newbie Brits, Kris Meeke and Elfyn Evans. Show your support for the lads and come and witness one of the marvels of WRC... Welsh mud, fog, jumps, forests and fans!
All 2014 'Event,' 'Forest' and 'RallyFest' advanced tickets now on sale – at 2013 prices for advanced tickets – including new for 2014, ticket-only access to the ace RallyFests at Chirk Castle and Kinmel Park (where we went last year, which you can read about here in our Rally GB special). And all tickets include FREE access to Deeside Service Park and the Ceremonial Start and Finish at Colwyn Bay.
A reconfigured three-day route was announced earlier this month offering fans more viewing options with improved access and increased parking. These moves have been made following the huge success of last year’s revitalised event in north Wales, which attracted spectator numbers that had not been seen in recent years. To encourage even more fans to experience the thrills of world class rallying, all advanced tickets have been held at their 2013 prices. What’s more, there will again be free access to the WRC excitement at the central Service Park in Deeside as well as the Ceremonial Start in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay and the Ceremonial Finish in Llandudno.
World Rally Passes are already on sale priced at £99. These offer the best value as they provide access to all 23 high-speed special stages including the family-friendly RallyFests at both Chirk Castle and Kinmel Park, plus the pre-event Shakedown on Thursday.
Available at £33 (as in 2013) for Friday and Saturday and £25 for Sunday, Forest Passes also provide considerable savings. They give access to all forest stages on a given day.
Unlike the full World Rally Pass, Forest Passes do not give access to the two RallyFest stages at Chirk Castle and Kinmel Park. To help the organisers provide the necessary infrastructure for these two popular tests, tickets for these must be purchased separately and in advance. As last year, RallyFest tickets cost just £25 with significant discounts available for families.
On-the-day tickets for individual forest stages will be priced at £20 – or £25 for the combined Alwen and Brenig stages on Sunday – but these will all be subject to availability. Tickets purchased on the gate will give access to two runs of the WRC cars through the selected stage plus the bonus of seeing the National Rally competitors in action.
The event’s successful ‘Kids for a Quid’ scheme will be continued, providing those aged 9-15 years old with a four-day ticket – giving access to all 23 stages – for just £1 when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Those aged eight and under are admitted free. Delivering even more value, all adult tickets – whether purchased in advance or on the gate – will also include a free copy of the event Souvenir Programme worth £9.
“We are building on the popularity of last year’s event and our ticketing strategy is a key ingredient in that,” said Ben Taylor, Managing Director of Wales Rally GB. “A vast amount of preparation has been done in the forests and at the RallyFests to cater for even more spectators and we are keeping advanced ticket prices at last year’s levels to encourage further fans to experience the excitement of world championship rallying.
“As already announced, entry to the two RallyFests at Chirk Castle and Kinmel Park will be strictly advanced ticket-only, as well as World Rally Pass holders. This enables much more accurate planning and management of both the traffic flow and the facilities and entertainment on the day.
“As well as holding advanced prices at last year’s level, we are also increasing the opportunity for the general public to get a taste of this fantastic event absolutely free. The Service Park is again situated in Deeside and the Finish remains in the middle of Llandudno, but we are creating a whole new Start ceremony at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay which will be a great way to kick off the action on Thursday evening.
“These areas attracted huge crowds in 2013 and a significant number of those who got their first taste of the rally last year have told us that they are now planning to go to a special stage in November – that’s exactly what we want to hear. Wales Rally GB has an important role to play, not only in being a world championship event, but also in helping to create a whole new generation of rally fans who will help the domestic sport to grow.”
Tickets, which go on sale today (Wednesday) are available via the official website at www.walesrallygb.com or via the ticket hotline on 0844 847 2251.
