While off air, the MINI John Cooper Works rally car has won its first event. A MINI John Cooper Works S2000 fitted with a 33mm restrictor, driven by Andrea Navarra, took victory on Rally dell'Adriatico this weekend past. Navarra led the opening round of the 2011 Italian gravel rally championship (perfect practice for the MINI's first WRC event in Sardinia May 5th) from start to finish. What a great omen for the return of the MINI name to World Rallying, which was officially launched yesterday. We wish Prodrive and the MINI WRC team all the very best in Italy in May. Oh, and we'll be behind the wheel (with a VERY special driver) of the MINI WRC, and behind the scenes at the Prodrive technical HQ in June... so stay tuned for that Road Magazine exclusive folks.
